Lyblete Blackout (DnD Character)

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Concept (Caster – amnesiac – Carries a spellbook but is a sorcerer – Slightly deranged – occasional recollections of memory – Skilled in battle magic)

Character is an Aasimar Sorcerer using the spell point system from unearthed arcana.

Lyble is an Aasimar sorcerer who long ago lost his memories. His current name is a name given to him by a field medic in a battle that is his first memory. It was more taken than given though. The medic made the comment in regards to Lyble’s current health condition, and Lyble misunderstood. It didn’t much matter as the name was appropriate and stuck with him in time. Shortly after he gained consciousness for the first time he remembers, the troop he was with fell under attack. The sorcerer began casting spells as if it were second nature to him.

After successfully defeating a small troop of orcs that were attacking, Lyble talked with the medic who treated him. He found out very little that would help him in discovering his past. He was found by her scouting party a few days previous. His only possessions were a signet ring and a book containing arcane writings.

Being in debt for saving his life, Lyble served for a short time with the band. Lyble increased his abilities to cast spells without research, but instead using inner willpower. Working with the troop he received clothing, food, and a portion of treasure including several magic items only he could utilize. After a few seasons of fighting, he had filled his dues and moved on to try and discover his past.

Lyble spent quite a bit of time looking for clues but never found any tangible answers. On one particular day Lyble was stunned to have an old memory bleed through directly to his consciousness. It was as if he could feel, see, smell, and touch the touch the experience. He could even taste the ash in the air.

He saw several adventures in combat. He turns to view a comrade attacked and his body shattered by a red and scaly limb. His viewpoint moves up and his attention is focused on a Great Red Dragon. Lyble watched as it inhaled deeply. There was no time to waste and the viewpoint turned around quickly and moved away. Lyble could see his hands moving in front of him, beginning to weave a spell. His form started to fade away into nothingness just as he saw the orange glow spreading around the walls to his sides and it was then he felt the flames as they started to wash over him.

After the mental flash occrred I woke up on my back staring into the sky, or at least what would have been the sky if there wasn’t a dwarf  looking down on me. The same face that triggered the memory a moment ago as a matter of fact.  I realized this dwarf could be the key to my past. There was no doubt that I should go with this adventurer and figure out my past. I’m not sure what road lays in front of us now, but then again.  I’m not sure what I’ve put behind me.

Lyble’s general attitude is friendly, but he has a few lucid moments that can seem funny, odd, intimidating, or just plain scary.
