Adventure – The Broken Church DnD 3.5

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

This is a quick adventure I drew up a while back. I ran it all the way through but it’s definitely not the best written piece of material.

The Broken Church

Campaign ideas #1

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009
  • A werewolf infestation is beginning to threaten a small town.
  • Citizens of Dawning’s Peak have been disappearing, only to reappear weeks later. Now transformed and Misshapen.
  • Rangers and Druids are leaving the forest of Everfrost. Something is killing the forest, it’s guardians, and wildlife. The very forest itself is changing into something vile.
  • The crystal ball of foreseeing only shows faces of pain and suffering. A great evil is taking over control and the adventurers must find a way to prevent the atrocities from occurring.
  • A lone ranger has been using animal companions to steal children at night. Where are the children and what is the ranger planning.
  • Small demons and skeletons have been seen and defeated in a large town recently. Their number and size continue to grow each night it seems. Something must be done to stop them.
  • An assassin is slowly murdering the entire town of Asbir. The murderer turns out to be a paladin who has gone insane due to the loss of his family. He chose to be merciful to an upstart warlock whom he had defeated. The same warlock took revenge for the paladin hurting his pride and killed his loved ones while he was away.
  • Chakram’s Bluff has always been a place of mystery. Strange sounds and creatures come from it’s mists. No one dares enter this place of evil. The monsters coming from Chakram’s grow stronger and more plentiful every day. The source of the monsters must be destroyed, even if it means going into the mist.
  • A dragon cult plans to summon a great dragon and use it to smite their foes. They consider the wizard’s guild in Shisholm their greatest threat, but the guild is in an area of high population within their City. An attack on the guild will result in many innocent casualties and the guild is willing to pay to help prevent the attack as well.
  • There is a lone citadel on the top of the shawnee mountain. It has been long abandoned. The overseer of the land wants it as his own but all those who’ve been sent before have not returned. The adventurers should find out where the previous scouts have gone and what is happening inside or at the castle/and or clear it out.
  • The PC’s learn of a powerful item that lies in the center of a magical labyrinth
  • A tide of orcs , goblins, and kobolds were spotted moving in what appears to be an attack on a a local town/location. They were last seen going into a swamp in the direct of the town/location of attack. Upon exit they are a legion of undead and appear to not have changed directives as they are still en route to the same location and must be stopped or the location must be defended.
  • Toralia an Island nation of mages plans to wage war against an Eastern cost nation. Both nations are very powerful and a war could destroy both nations and the surrounding land. Hopefully the PC’s can find a way to stop it.
  • The city of “Raven’s Home” has been having trouble. Many women recently have been going missing, but then showing up 48 hours later with no recollection of what occurred. When this happens to a female of royal descent the PC’s are called upon to find the girl and rescue her immediately.

Hrusk (DnD Character)

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Hrusk was a quiet barbarian character, enjoying the simple life of a woodsman. After a few too many years living mostly in solitude, he decided he wanted to see more of the world. Shortly after striking out on his own, he met up with Effigy, a newly formed group of adventurers doing much the same as Hrusk. Going into the world to see what they could come back with.

Hrusk was not unintelligent, in fact he was quite intelligent. Unfortunately for him, he still could not read. This attribute lead to quite a few misunderstandings, both troublesome and/or humorous. Effigy saw many faces change in his adventuring party during his time with Effigy. He had many long battles, both glorious and sad. After a long period of adventuring, Hrusk’s final original party member and friend “Zayne” died on what would then be Hrusk’s last adventure. He took his portion of the treasure and added it to his countless trophies.

When Hrusk stopped adventuring and came back to his homeland with all of his rewards, it was finally then that he realized how much he had acquired and the value of his belongings. He began construction on the land he had originally acquired long ago in his first adventure. It had been the only payment a poor duke could afford for the return of his last surviving son. After a few years His castle was complete. It is there he stays, in his lonely but extravagant home. But once you have a taste for the adventure, some just can’t let it go. He now assists many adventuring groups, making friends and enemies. Only going back to sit upon his throne until the next rumor of adventure passes his ears. He will continue to do so until the day comes he sees all of his old true friends again.

Ali Pasha (DnD Character)

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

A definitely unique character. Ali was only describable as “Special”. He quickly and oddly was taken into an adventuring group known as “The Red Hand”. Although Ali was a smart and wise cleric of Ilamater, he was easily distracted. Most people didn’t think Much of Ali’s short attention span. He was after all a halfling.

The Red hand was an adventuring group that was first organized in an attempt to help a city in need that was suffering from ghosts/haunting’s. The trip alone was interesting to the city. Along the way, The Red Hand stumbled upon a small group of drow circus/festival performers. They were quite entertaining, nice and taught Ali and his new friends a few new dances.

It was not many days after this that the group finally reached their destination of Ashford. A city located in the Dales. It wasn’t long after meeting some of the local townspeople, council members, and mayor that The Red Hand knew something was out of place here besides a few lost spirits.

After a short investigation and good moves made on instinct, Ali and the party discovered that Ashford was a haven for worshippers of the dark god “Rallister” who was an evil god of insanity. Upon discovery the group was bribed to take a large sum of gold, go back to where they came and pretend they resolved the plight and all was well.

Well Ali was a kind halfing and didn’t care for the cruelty and malevolence he saw. It didn’t take long for The Red Hand to decide on the right thing to do and they readied their weapons.

Using Summoned monsters, arcane power, divine might, brute strength, and subtle trickery the Red Hand brought great destruction upon Ashford. They were able to set most of the town ablaze and killed many of the dark cultists. The Red Hand was a very effective combat machine and few members of the town lived if any as any who may have lived would not dare say admit to being a resident of Ashford.

After the Razing the town, all members of The Red Hand Spent a season traveling to local communities to inform of the deeds that took place in Ashford to save their name. Ashford was a well kept secret by the worshipers of Rallister and it took a lot of convincing to save the way people viewed Ali and his friends. It was worth it all in the end of course. Although they wouldn’t be bribed by the dark townspeople of Ashford, you can damn well bet their remains were looted.

Ali Pasha- Halfing Cleric of Ilmater. Easily distracted/short attention span.. Severe addiction to staring at shiny objects (this was how he was easily convinced to join the party- A Paladin in bright shiny new magical platemail is very interesting to this character).

I had a great time playing this character. he was very friendly and sweet, but got into a lot of trouble. But he always had a way out and amused everyone.

Tycho (face)

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Tycho is a very charismatic and dominating face. He knows how to bend the wills of people to get what he wants.
